The weekly CBS television news magazine “Sunday Morning” recently profiled a series of workshops for children with physical disabilities held at Lincoln Center by the New York City Ballet. You can watch or read the story here.children with physical disabilities

Dr. Joseph Dutkowsky, a specialist in cerebral palsy, helped staff at New York City Ballet develop the program. Dancers from the company participate in the workshops that help children with physical disabilities get out of their wheelchairs and onto the dance floor.

Two of the families profiled drive from Binghamton, New York, a three-and-a-half hour drive from Manhattan.

Although the Greenville Ballet School does not have the funding or the medical expertise to offer this kind of program, we are glad to see that ballet professionals in larger cities are tending to these needs.
