Other Dance Forms

Home / About Greenville Ballet School / Other Dance Forms

Ballet is the foundation of most other kinds of dance, and we encourage our students to start out with the “A-B-C’s” of dance that ballet provides. However, once they know the basics, we encourage our students to explore other dance forms.

Modern Dance is a 20th-century American rebellion against ballet. It is a dance form that is taught at most colleges and universities as well as at the Greenville County Schools’ Fine Arts Center and at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Please refer to our Schedule for class times.

Jazz – With a focus on warm-up and stretches, across the floor combinations, and skills and technical development; these structured classes progress and challenge the eager-to-learn dancer. Jazz Technique classes will focus on the development of skills and technique and not choreography.

Tap – Elementary to advanced traditional American Tap dancing; from Fred Astaire to Savion Glover. Tap shoes required.

Hip-Hop is currently America’s most popular dance style. Come see why! Dancers will be exploring basic Hip-Hop techniques and incorporating basic Jazz movements. The class consists of a warm-up, progressions across the floor and choreography. We offer fresh and hip choreography while staying clean and age appropriate.
